Construction : Construction Site Safety

The Site Safety section encompasses a range of different risks affecting not only the contractors on site, but the public as well, especially children.  Everyone who operates on a construction site will have legal responsibilities to manage theirs and other people's safety and to ensure that the risk of injury is minimised.

Each contractor and sub-contractor is responsible under law for the safety of persons he employs or controls.   Self-employed persons are responsible for themselves; they also have a legal duty not to endanger other persons by their acts or omissions.  Health and safety information and instructions should be handed to contractors and sub-contractors and the persons they employ, who are likely to be exposed to the known hazards as all other employees at the workplace.
